Agitated glass Nutsche filter for efficient solid-liquid separation processes.
The Agitated Glass Nutsche Filter (AGNF) is a closed vessel filtration system designed for efficient solid-liquid separation under vacuum or mild pressure conditions. It includes a glass chamber with a perforated support plate, an agitator (shaft and blades), and ports for washing, solvent introduction, and product discharge. The vessel often features a jacket or heating capability for thermal control. The unit is fully sealed to prevent vapor release, and supports multiple process stages—filtration, washing, cake reslurrying, drying, and discharge—all within the same vessel.
• Capacities: typically 10 L to 200 L (and larger)
• Filter area: e.g. 0.03 to 0.31 m² depending on size
• Vessel diameter and height: e.g. 225 mm diameter, 300 mm height for small units
• Motor/agitator capacity: 0.25 to 1.0 HP (or more)
• Materials: borosilicate glass, PTFE components, stainless or coated frame
• Operating conditions: full vacuum to moderate positive pressure
• Temperature range: ambient to ~150 °C or higher if jacketed
• Features: filter cloth support, jacketed body, sealing closures, discharge valve, washing and solvent ports
• Process steps: agitation, cake compression, cake washing, drying, discharge
• Filtration, washing, and drying of solids in chemical and pharmaceutical processing
• Handling of high-value or sensitive compounds requiring minimal contamination
• API and fine chemical manufacture • Filtration of slurries, catalysts, and crystalline solids
• Processes that require cake washing, drying, or re-slurrying without transfer
Because the agitator enhances cake uniformity, washing penetration, and discharge, the AGNF is well suited to complex processing where yield and purity are critical.
