Bromine Recovery System

Specialized bromine recovery system for efficient bromine extraction and purification.

Bromine Recovery System Overview

The Bromine Recovery System is a technical package designed to extract and purify bromine from low-concentration waste streams, salt bittern, or industrial effluents. It supports “cold” processes for feeds below ~3 g/L and “hot” steam-distillation methods for stronger solutions. The system combines chlorination, steam stripping, condensation, and separation steps into one integrated module. It is used especially in industries generating bromide-containing waste, enabling resource recovery, environmental compliance, and improved sustainability.

Key Features

  • Bromine extraction capability
  • High recovery efficiency
  • Borosilicate glass construction
  • Corrosion resistant materials

Specifications

• Feed range: 2 to 300 g/L bromide in aqueous stream

• Process schemes: cold process for dilute feeds, hot/steam process for concentrated feeds

• Key sections: chlorination, steam stripping column, condenser, phase separation

• Features: tail scrubber to recover residual bromine, gravity separators, solvent recycle

• Design targets: high bromine recovery efficiency, low residual losses

• Utilities: steam, cooling water, chlorine injection, condensers

• Materials: borosilicate glass, PTFE, corrosion-resistant supports

• Capacity scaling: modular units up to industrial scale

• Safety: design for containment, gas handling, and controlled off-gas treatment

Applications

• Recovery of bromine from aqueous bromide wastes (HBr, NaBr, KBr)

• Purification and recycling of bromine for chemical processes

• Treatment of industrial effluent streams containing bromide

• Environmental and resource-recovery retrofits for chemical plants

• Pilot scale demonstration of bromine recovery techniques

The module enables clients to convert waste bromide into usable bromine, lowering disposal costs and raw material consumption.
